Snacks at Rise: Our Super Bene Pop-Up
We’ve started something new, and we’re a little bit in love with it.
Every couple of weeks we take over the kitchen from the lovely people at Rise Cafe in Lennox Head for Snacks — a small dish selection with something for everyone. Grab a snack or make a feast, all designed to go with a delicious glass of wine or another tasty beverage from our neighbour, Smokey’s Bottle Shop. Food comes out straight to the tables on proper plates, and there’s takeaway too if you’d rather wander off to the park with a bite in hand.
The first one, on 8 August, was everything we hoped for. Fergus and Jerome ran the kitchen, Nikki was front of house, and we sold out of the chicken skewers. Honestly — who wouldn’t want fresh oysters with a glass of white wine.
What’s on the menu
Every night is a little different, but expect the likes of:
- Gildas — olives, white anchovies, cornichons, guindillas, artichoke heart
- Tweed River oysters with mignonette
- Beef skewers (Brad's Butchery) and mortadella skewers (Salumi Australia) with whipped ricotta (Byron Bay Mozzarella), spiced marmalade sauce (Ferg's) and pistachios
- Pâté and mussel toast
- Burrata (Byron Bay Mozzarella) with winter greens and almond salsa
- Grilled whiting sandwich (Bay Seafood) with caper mayo
- Ferg’s homemade focaccia — and more
Local produce, small plates, big flavours — the kind of food we love to cook for friends, now cooked for you.
